She just graduated from Washington and Lee University in May 2017 after studying Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. Laney is originally from Columbus, Ga. and her family has lived on Sanibel Island in Florida since 2003. She’s brand new to Nashville and is excited to start her marketing career here!
To help you get to know her better, check out our Q&A below (or read her professional bio here.)
What is your favorite part of your job so far?
I love doing video editing and web design, which I wouldn’t have been able to do at a big firm. I love that I get to do those things for Sheridan PR.
What is your motto or best life advice?
My favorite poem is called “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten” by Robert Fulghum, and I try to live by it, especially the line “learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.” I’m all about a balancing work and play and never taking myself too seriously.
What is your social media platform of choice?
Who is your favorite author?
Do you have a favorite game?
I really like trivia games. I have a pretty good memory and hold on to fun facts pretty well.
What’s your happy place?
Near Washington and Lee is the flagship Bold Rock Cider Barn. I went with a bunch of friends for my birthday last year, just a couple weeks before we graduated. It’s this beautiful outdoor area on a river. They have music and food trucks, and the cider is delicious! It was the best day. I would love to do that again.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Do you have a guilty pleasure?
I watch Friends on Netflix all the time. I’ve definitely seen every episode multiple times.
What was your first job?
I made milkshakes at the original Cheeburger Cheeburger on Sanibel.
If you had a superpower, what would you choose?
Tell us about a fun fact or hidden talent.
I have done musical theater since I was 11. My first role was the magic carpet in Aladdin Jr., and my last role senior year was Cathy in The Last Five Years.
Name three things you can’t live without.
Burt’s Bees chapstick, Diet Coke, and my puppy, Copper.
What is your proudest moment?
I got to sing at Carnegie Hall in April 2017 with my choir from W&L, the University Singers. It was incredible. I cried on stage.
